Michael Thornton, Elected Student Trustee
John Lambert, External Trustee
I dealt with policies relating to education and vocational training as a senior civil servant. Since I left the Civil Service in 2000 I have spent 8 years as Governor of Sheffield Hallam and been Deputy Chair of the Board of Governors. As a civil servant I developed a strong commitment to higher education as a way of developing people for the world of work and more broadly. I believe that higher education is a life changing experience for many who take part, and that this doesn’t just result from what happens in the lecture room. I wanted to be a Trustee because I have recently been both a student and a Governor at Hallam. As a resuIt have a strong commitment to Hallam and its students.
Bill Freeman, External Trustee
