Hallam Union.

National Union Of Students

The NUS is a centralised organisation that exists to represent and support students at a local, national and international level. From campaigning on tuition fees to selling discount cards the NUS contains a diverse political spectrum and range of ideas with the chance for incredible dynamic debates. It plays an influential role in current socio-political affairs and is potentially a powerful body for social change.

The NUS has a national strategy and campaigns that are set by its membership (the students). As a member of Hallam Union you are entitled to run in a University wide election to attend the NUS annual conference, which is the NUS’ sovereign body.

Since student situations around the country vary, the NUS is split into regions which address localised issues affecting students. There are regional conferences at which we hold the NUS leadership to account. Any student can stand in election to attend these regional conferences. We are in the north region.
