Course Reps

Each academic year, students have the opportunity to elect one or more Course Representatives for each year of their course. Course Reps gather feedback from their fellow students and take this forward to enhance the course experience.

Your objectives as a Course Rep:

·         To gather constructive and representative feedback from the students on your course.

·         To communicate this feedback to the course staff so that issues can be addressed and improvements made.

·         To report back to your fellow students on responses to feedback and any changes made.

·         To feedback at a Faculty and University level wherever possible to enhance the student experience at SHU.

How you might achieve this:

·         Encourage fellow students to give constructive feedback on their experience and be actively involved with their course.

·         Keep in regular contact with both your fellow students and your Course Leader.

·         Proactively give feedback to your course throughout the year.

·         Attend and participate in Course Committee meetings.

·         Attend and participate in Faculty Forum meetings.

·         Feedback issues to Faculty Reps.

·         Engage with training opportunities.

·         Play an active role in the wider Course Rep community.

Benefits of becoming a Course Rep:

·         Make a difference.

·         Direct input into the quality and development of your education.

·         An increased understanding of the University.

·         Assisting peers with course related issues.

·         The chance to put student views on the University agenda.

·         Learn and develop transferable skills.

·         Enhance your career prospects.

·         Make friends and meet new people.

How can I become a Course Rep?

Speak to your Course Leader and put yourself forward for election.  Once elected, your Course Leader will register you with the University and Hallam Union so that you can be trained and get started in your role.
