The Student Rep system has been developed to give every student at Hallam the means to voice their opinion - good or bad - on the standards and quality of the education they receive. It is also a key tool for the University to seek your views to help determine the future direction of your course.
This feedback process operates on a number of levels to ensure that the student voice is heard from Course Committee level right up to the University’s strategic and policy making Boards. Any student at Hallam can be a Student Rep for their course. No prior experience is necessary!
How it works…
You are trained to represent your course to the University and Students’ Union.
You ask opinions of fellow course mates on any issues and feedback from meetings you attend.
You communicate in various ways. Through your course meetings, through your Student Rep Liaison Officer (SRLO), to the Academic Affairs Executive or to your Faculty Rep.
You use Blackboard or email as well as attending meetings.
Your opinions are taken to the highest level of the University and the Students’ Union.
There are lots of benefits to being a Student Rep:
Direct input into the quality and development of your education
An increased understanding of the University
Assisting peers with course related issues
The chance to put student views on the University agenda
Learn and develop transferable skills
Enhance you career prospects
Make a difference
Make friends and meet new people
Apart from being part of the University feedback mechanism and representing your course to the University and Students Union you will also be able to develop many skills, so you will have LOADS to put on your CV! Make sure you get recognition for the role you play and the skills you are developing by taking part in the Hallam Award.
