Your union

Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union is a not for profit organisation which is run by students for students to provide representation and legitimacy for members.

Sheffield Hallam University students are automatically members of Hallam Union unless they have chosen to opt out.

Upon enrolment students receive a SHU card which provides student I.D with membership to Hallam Union and the NUS.

Hallam Students’ Union is affiliated with the NUS meaning holders of the SHU card are automatically members of NUS with reciprocal membership rights.

Membership to Hallam Union means students are entitled to:

  • Utilise union facilities
  • Take part in a variety of activities in affiliated clubs and societies
  • Run for an Executive position or vote in Union elections
  • Sit on or observe Union Representative Council
  • Access night time student events
  • Join the petition for a referendum or vote on any referenda issue
  • Access Union advice and support
