Elections Pledge:
Being a student I understand how important it is to voice your views and concerns to the appropriate body to have them heard. I believe I’m the right choice to be your Union Council Chair. I will bring these five key skills to the position: *Approachability *Un-biased decision making *Leadership *Organisation *Determination. I will listen to my fellow students and understand how important the views of Hallam students are. As union chair it is critical that you oversee the decisions within the meetings and that they are un-bias and all sides of the problem(s) are shared. Being an open minded person will help me achieve this goal. Leadership is one of my key attributes, being able to control debates is essential in union meetings. I have been elected Captain for Hallam Trampolining leading on from my position within in the committee this year. Being organised and prepared for the union council meetings is imperative. I manage my time effectively and can apply this to the meetings to make sure the decisions are swiftly but thoroughly made. I am determined to make sure your views are heard by each council member and officer! After all the student union is about us, the students, so let’s start as we mean to go on. So why should you vote for me? Through my involvement with the union this year I believe there is room for improvement, These are my top issues to firstly address this year:
My first point is to make sure that all students whether you’re a full time, part time, mature, overseas or a home student is to be heard and feel that the union is doing all it can to accommodate your needs. Secondly the union has a lot to offer students and I would like to show that whatever your problem is the union and its staff are there to help you. Finally the union’s top priority is students and their well-being but is it working for you?
Slogan:
Your voice + your opinions = Sophie Amos your council chair 2011-2012
What does representation mean to you?
Representation is about voicing the audience that have voted you in and making sure you have their best interests at heart.
What would you see as the main priority if you were elected?
My main priority is to make sure that we widen the participation at the union. This should range from Council member attending meetings to improving the information about the union and how it can help students.
I stand out as a elected representative because…….
I WILL MAKE A CHANGE TO SHEFFIELD HALLAM UNION!
