OfficersWelcome to your weekly catch up with your officers, here you can find out what we got up to last week and what we’re planning for next week. Drop us an email if you want to find out more and tell us your opinion!

Last week – WELCOME WEEK
What an amazing week! There’s been so much going on over the past 10 days that our heads are spinning. We hope you had a great time and are settling in well – Fresher flu free!

We started off the proceedings with the Welcome Party on Thursday 15th September, which welcomed home and international students alike, along with saying goodbye to our summer students.

After hearing that some of you didn’t get a place in halls of residence Carl Hawkes, your Welfare and Community Officer, organised a ‘Non-Halls Freshers’ event to help students meet each other. The event saw lots of newcomers getting to know each other at Bar Phoenix for a quiz and dance on Saturday 17th. If you were there or would like to find out more please contact Carl Hawkes at c.hawkes@shu.ac.uk

The party really got started at Fresher’s fest which saw thousands of students come through the union to celebrate the beginning of University life. Aside from everyone getting a bit soggy in the rain it was a fantastic event which saw over 50 people take part in a dancing flashmob organised by Helen Francis, your activities Officer!

Monday 19th saw the official launch of POUNDED which hit records of the number of students attending. Keep an eye out every Monday for our cheap drinks and 3 arena event! Pounded photos will be posted weekly on facebook (search Hallam Union).

Tuesday 20th, Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd hosted our infamous fairs where thousands of students signed up to get involved in Sports, Societies and Volunteering. The Officer team were there meeting loads of you which was amazing!

To find out how you can GET INVOLVED please contact:
Helen Francis for societies and volunteering – h.francis@shu.ac.uk

Colan Leung for Sports – c.leung@shu.ac.uk

We also had hundreds of students signing up to doctors and STI Screenings at the Wellfair, which Carl Hawkes helped to organise. To find out more please contact Carl Hawkes – c.hawkes@shu.ac.uk

Saturday 24th was the official, eagerly anticipated launch of ENTOURAGE. The night was a huge success with an outstanding performance from Fish percussionist fresh from Ibiza.

To find out more about what we’ve been up to, or if you have any problems please do not hesitate to get in touch or pop down and see us!
