Heena’s original manifesto

1. WHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS I BRING TO THE ROLE:

Hey, My name is Heena Dhanani and I am running for the International Student rep position. I am in my second year of a Media (BA) degree here at Hallam and a truly international student, Born in Pakistan, raised in Tanzania, Kenya and United Arab emirates with an Indian origin, hence the world is my home  . I have always been involved in activities starting in school and continued to do so at university. In my first year i was a course rep, international student society secretary and part of the fundraising team at Hallam volunteering, this year is no less. I am currently the media rep, course rep (2nd year) and part of the publicity team at Hallam volunteering. This year I have sat on the union council (highest decision making body in Hallam Union) and feel this will help me with my role next year and to further the current international reps’ vision.

2. IN THIS ROLE I WILL ACHIEVE FOR STUDENTS

I would like to in my role – Continue the great work done by our current rep, and start up the first international student standing committee. – Support the new up and coming national society and integrate both home and international student in their events. – Work closely with the university to make the moving in transition more welcoming and promote the union within the international society. – Work closely with the union and university to organise an international week where people from all over the world can share their values and culture with all students at the university. – Try to work with the university of Sheffield to integrate all international students in Sheffield to create one big community.
