A bit about the Committee and their roles…
The Hallam Volunteering Committee is a great way for any volunteer to influence Hallam Volunteering and help other volunteers. The Committee makes decisions about the future of Hallam Volunteering and works hard to support all the community projects. Committee members are elected every year and absolutely any volunteer can nominate themselves.
The Committee also work closely with the Support Teams.
The Volunteering Executive is also part of the Committee. The Volunteering Executive is a member of the Union’s Executive Committee as well as the HV Committee and is elected through Union elections. He/she is a part-time Executive Officer whose role is to raise the profile of Hallam Volunteering and monitor its activities.
The Volunteering Executive can help you to solve problems and raise your issues with the Hallam Union Executive Committee and Union Representative Council.
The Fundraising Officer and Support Team will help you come up with ideas to raise money for your project, and help you organise fundraising events. They also raise money for the Small Grant Fund, which you can apply to if you need some extra money for your project costs.
If you need posters, flyers or invitations designing for your project, then ask the Graphic Design Support Team.
The Publicity Officer and Support Team will write press releases about your project or event to see your work celebrated in the papers, and will also write articles for Volunteer Life and SHUlife magazines.
If you want assistance organising social events for your team, the Socials & Communications Officer can help you. They will also plan big social events for all volunteers for you and your team to meet volunteers from other projects.
Ask the Events & Technical Officer for their expertise to help add atmosphere and professionalism to your events – their team can help with lights, sound, presentations and other media.
The Equal Opportunities Officer and Support Team can run diversity training for your team and help you to consider the accessibility of your project sessions.
The Project Reps will help you to solve any problems or overcome challenges that your project might face – they are always there to give advice and support. They are happy to come along to your project sessions to be an extra pair of hands. They also represent your views at the Committee meetings so let them know what you think!
Contact the Committee via Blackboard, email at hallamvolunteering@shu.ac.uk or via Postcards which will be available very shortly from the Activities Pod.
