Green Team is an environmental based project in which volunteers take themed sessions into primary schools. This year volunteers held six afterschool sessions at Lowfield Primary School. Volunteers devised and delivered fun sessions which allowed children to learn about various aspects of the environment in an interactive way.
Topics covered included Carbon Footprints, Recycling, British Wildlife and Natural Disasters. The aim of the project is to improve the children’s knowledge of the environment, and raise awareness of green activities. The project is also a fantastic opportunity for students to gain experience of teaching and working with children.
This year’s volunteers also put on a stall at Student Week which won the best stall awards. As part of this volunteers organised a nature trail amongst other activities.
