Volunteering

Games Club

Games Club is an Inspire marked project which takes Olympic themed after school activities into schools. The Inspire Programme aims to promote the benefits of the London 2012 Olympic Games across the country, recognising outstanding projects that encourage people to get involved. This year our volunteers worked with Hallam Primary School over a six week period. Volunteers led children in fun activities, based on Olympic sports, in which each team represented a different country. The project encouraged an enjoyment in sporting activities, whilst developing their communications skills through team sports.

Community Development Coordinator for Sports & Culture, Katy Weston commented: ‘The projects have been a great success! Our volunteers invested such a lot of time and effort into them and achieving the Inspire Mark really shows that it has paid off! The projects have provided a great opportunity for us to raise awareness of the 2011 Olympic Games and its history in schools, allowing the children to really get involved with it for themselves!’
