THEATRE STEWARD – MONTGOMERY CHARITY

Description

This is an opportunity with the Montgomery charity which is an arts and Christian Centre with a medium size theatre, various rehearsal/workshop/exhibition space.

As a Steward you will be responsible for: welcoming patrons, taking tickets and maintaining the house during performances. If there is an emergency (medical, weather,etc.) or if a patron has a need Stewards must be on duty and eager to help them. Stewards represent the theatre and they should remain pleasant, helpful, and courteous.

Commitment

Evenings performances 6:30-10pm, Matinees, 1:30pm-4pm

Desirable Skills

Interest in the arts, good customer service and friendly.

ECCLESALL SCHOOL ARTS WEEK MAY 2013

Ecclesall School are looking for volunteers to assist with the running of an Arts Week from 20 – 24th May 2013. Volunteers will support activities in the school during an exciting week of the children creating, dancing and painting! You must hold a current CRB check to apply for this role.

CHILDREN’S MEDIA CONFERENCE VOLUNTEER

Description

The Children’s Media Conference is the UK’s most important conference for people working in children’s media and entertainment. The conference runs from 3-5 July and we need volunteers during the week 1-5 July 2013.

As a volunteer you can choose to take part in a number of different roles from working in conference sessions, registration desk, front of house and technical. You will have to select a role which suits you the best.

By volunteering, you can meet people working in television, interactive media, publishing, museums and galleries, film and radio.  You will hear the current debates in media, meet producers who might need interns or trainees in the future, have first-hand event management experience, and add the experience to your CV.

Commitment

Volunteers will be required from 1st July -5th July.

SKETCH

Description

Volunteers from Hallam union will team up with a group from Addaction to put together a short performance that will be showcased at The Hubs.

Addaction helps to transform the lives of people affected by drug and alcohol problems. Over 6 weeks the ‘Sketch team’ will work on putting together a script, design the set and work out the overall performance of the show.

Commitment

Regular 1hr weekly meetings in term one.

6 sessions between Feb – March ending with a final performance.

Desirable Skills

Organisation, enthusiasm, ability to meet deadlines, team working skills.

CAMERA OPERATING LIEUTENANT – SILENCEBREAKERS

Description

SilenceBreakers’ specific focus regarding net neutrality relates to the disproportionate provision of resources in certain areas, primarily disadvantaged communities, to connect to the internet and its services in the first place, alongside the knowledge and skills required making best use of such provision. 

Are you adept at operating digital video cameras of various kinds and able to use initiative to work in a challenging, exciting documentary environment? 

This role involves sitting in on the production development process, offering support, and following the filmmaker on various documentary shoots to record footage for the guerilla film Return to Doncatraz, which focuses on the threat of right-wing politics in this region and beyond.

Would suit someone interested in progressive politics aiming to work in the industry, as the role could lead to many contacts and opportunities in the field via the company’s network and potential recommendations.

Commitment

Volunteers will be required approximately 4-10 hours per month, from October 2012 until September 2013.

Desirable Skills 

The applying volunteer should be skilled at operating various digital video cameras, be able to act fast on own initiative, and be quick thinking and able to respond quickly to arising documentary filming circumstances.

Should be passionate about the film’s themes, keen to support the filmmakers, and fearless in their reporting.
