MEDIA AND ADVERTISING OFFICER – VOLUNTEER STANDING COMMITTEE 2013/14

Description

Lead and support a team of volunteers to assist in creating media/advertising for volunteering.

Advise and assist the Volunteer Standing Committee with general design needs.

Advise and assist volunteer Team Projects with general design needs when requested.

Oversee and engage with student volunteers through all social media networks, for example regularly updating Volunteering Facebook and Twitter with news, events and successes.

Assist and support the Marketing and Communications Team with designs for publications, newsletters and volunteer magazines.

Take the lead in coordinating the ‘VolunTV’ YouTube station. This will involve filming volunteer projects, interviewing volunteers, editing film and uploading to YouTube.

Engage in actively promoting/advertising/publicising volunteering activities and events through posters, social media networks and other innovative means.

Take photos and videos at all volunteering events and distribute between volunteering staff and committee members as appropriate.

Communicate effectively with your team and the committee

Commitment

Attend fortnightly committee meetings.

Regular one to ones with volunteering staff / Activities Officer.

Attend additional volunteering events (fairs, showcases, socials)

Regular meeting with role specific team to plan and organise events and campaigns

Essential Skills

Committed to personal development and willing to attend various training sessions related to role.

Willingness to listen to others and respect their opinions.

Able to work on own initiative and represent student volunteers.

Able to work as a team

VOLUNTEER MARKETING ASSISTANT – MAKING SPACE

Description

Making Space deliver high quality care, support and enablement services for people with a range of physical and/or mental health conditions, including learning disabilities and dementia (AND all of their carers). Making Space is at the heart of the transformation that is taking place in the world of secondary health care.

As a volunteer marketing assistant you will help to design and produce a range of communication methods including press, marketing materials, PR, events, newsletters and internal briefings to promote both the service and the volunteer programme to enable the successful recruitment of volunteers from a wide demographic.

You will also help design and deliver social media campaigns, ensure successful internal communications among Making Space staff about the contract. Ensure best practice and good news stories from the contract are successfully shared internally and externally and help to develop a programme of internal communication amongst volunteers to help Making Space to support and retain those volunteers.

Commitment

Volunteers will be required between 4-6 hours a week, days and times to be negotiated with yourselves and the organisation.

Essential Skills

Good communication skills written and verbal, share experience, friendly, good computer knowledge

Desirable Skills

Experience of research and producing reports in excel, word and other IT database.

A CRB is required for this opportunity. This can be provided for all home students.

MARKETING & PUBLICITY – CREATIVE ACTION

Description

Creative Action Network (CAN) are a celebratory arts organisation that aim to bring creativity to the streets of Sheffield and beyond! Originally the group that organised the Sharrow Lantern Carnival, CAN has expanded over the past 6 years and now delivers community arts workshops, organises and manages celebratory arts and community events and delivers bespoke creative projects.

CAN are looking for volunteers to support the marketing and publicity for a huge variety of community events and workshops. The role allows volunteers to take a lead and have a real impact in the community. Key duties will involve; social media, online publicity, press publicity, poster design and distribution.

Commitment

Ongoing flexible hours to fit in with volunteer timetable.

SHARROW LANTERN FESTIVAL – EVENT MANAGEMENT

Description

Creative Action Network (CAN) are a celebratory arts organisation that aim to bring creativity to the streets of Sheffield and beyond! Originally the group that organised the Sharrow Lantern Carnival, CAN has expanded over the past 6 years and now delivers community arts workshops, organises and manages celebratory arts and community events and delivers bespoke creative projects.

CAN are looking for volunteers to take up various roles managing Sharrow Lantern Festival. The Festival is an annual event attracting over 3000 people- it is a beautiful creative carnival that brings the whole community together. Volunteer roles are available in; managing the event, publicity, marketing, leading lantern making workshops and all elements connected to running a large community event. The volunteer roles can be catered to volunteer skills and time available.

Commitment

October 2012 – April 2013

MARKETING VOLUNTEER – LANGUAGE EXCHANGE

Description

Language Exchange is an open social group for people who live in Sheffield who want to share a language they know or learn a language they would like to know. 

As a marketing volunteer for Language Exchange you will help to promote the Language Exchange events to the local community, 6th formers and students from both universities by using a variety of marketing media, such as newspapers, local magazines, community groups and social networking sites. You shall also take enquiries from the public regarding the event.

Commitment

Volunteer will be required for around 5 hours a week.
