Student Life.

If you discover a fire:

•  Activate the alarms
• Do not use a fire extinguisher unless you are trained to do so
• Evacuate the building and go to the assembly point
• Do not re-enter the building until you are told to do so by a fire marshal

On hearing the alarm:

• Leave the building immediately via the nearest exit
•  Do not use the lifts

Health and Safety Advice When on Campus

• Call security on 0114 225 3856 or 8888 on any internal phone
• Repost all incidents, even minor ones, to security staff
• Call security if you need a first aider
• If you need an ambulance call security to do it for you, the campus is large and security can direct the ambulance to exactly where you are quickly.

For those students who have to wear/use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

•  Where students are required to wear PPE, they are responsible for wearing the PPE at all necessary times. If you do not wear the appropriate PPE you will not be allowed to participate in the activity.
• Where PPE is issued to students, they are responsible for maintaining their own equipment.
