Feeling Stressed?

You are a very lucky person indeed if you can make it through uni without getting stressed. Whilst stress cannot always be avoided, here are a couple of tips to help you stay in control.

• Plan ahead. You will at some point have more than one thing to do at once, be it two essay deadlines or revising for more than one exam, but if you plan what you are going to work on and when (and stick to it) you should avoid any last minute panics.

• Get a change of scenery. Stress can be reduced if you change your surroundings even for just a short while. Sheffield is one of the greenest cities in the UK so you are never far away from a relaxing stroll in the park.

• Take a break. Productivity is increased if you take regular breaks so if you are stuck in the house all day revising, meet a friend for lunch or synchronise tea breaks with your housemates so you don’t end up being stuck in your bedroom for hours on end.

For further advice you can contact the Union’s Advice Centre on 0114 225 4148, 0800 0732 002 (freephone) or email advicecentre@shu.ac.uk .
