Graduating in 2012

Sport

Squash

Squash is an exhilarating sport which is ideal for those who want to try something new and different and for those who want to keep fit. The club caters for both beginners and experienced players and for those who want to play recreationally or competitively. We compete in the BUCS league and for those who don’t we have inter-mural leagues to keep up the competitiveness within the club. Training is fun and enjoyable and is a good opportunity to make some new friends and join us on our social events!

Getting Started

Rackets will be provided to beginners when they arrive if they don’t have their own. Clear soled trainers are to be worn on courts.

Cost

Every member of the club must purchase a Team Hallam membership for £85, which is for a full year. This is available to purchase from the reception desk at either of the two Sport Hallam sports facilities. Once paid, please remember to register via the Sports Union Home Page to make your payment valid!

Besides the Team Hallam Membership, members are not required to buy Hallamshire (the Squash club we are based at) membership if they just want to play in the University designated slots. However if they want to play outside these then a membership for Hallamshire Tennis and Squash Club must be bought. Prices range depending on the individual’s preference.

Rackets can be bought but of the player doesn’t wish to buy one then the club has a certain number of rackets which can be lent out.

Training

All training is held at:

Hallamshire Tennis & Squash Club
716 Ecclesall Road (Past Hunters Bar)
Sheffield
S11 8TA

Training is held on Sundays 5-7pm, Tuesdays 8.40-10.40pm and Wednesdays are team matches. We are currently working on adding an extra training session and a fitness session.

Fixtures

Hallam Squash Club currently has one team playing in the BUCS League which is now in Division 2.

During February there is the BUCS individual’s competition which a number of players attended last season.

Also at the end of the year is Varsity which the club produces a team of 10 to battle against Sheffield University! We are hoping to organise a few friendly matches against Sheffield University over the next season.
