About the Sports Ball

The Sheffield Hallam Sports Ball is an annual event which includes dinner and entertainment and is the one night of the year where all of the Sheffield Hallam sports clubs come together to celebrate and recognise team and individual achievements in sport at Sheffield Hallam University.

Sheffield Hallam Sports Ball is one of the largest Student Balls in the country and 2012 attracted 617 guests. All clubs are invited to attend as well as sports staff, coaches and our local club and facility partners, who are extremely important in providing the sporting experience at Sheffield Hallam University. Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union and University staff, including the Vice Chancellor, are also welcomed as they too play a huge part in the success of sport at our University.

This year the Sports Ball takes place on Saturday 25th May 2013, and will provide an opportunity for our guests to look back on the annual Varsity competition versus the University of Sheffield.

There is no better time to get involved with University Sport following the fantastic summer of sport we all saw in 2012. 1 in 7 of the Team GB Paralympic and Olympic athletes trained in Sheffield, and our city is home to some fantastic sporting facilities. Sheffield is the City of Sport and our University students could be amongst the next group of athletes to reap Olympic success.

Sports Ball 2013 Shortlisted Nominees

Each club has had the chance to submit nomination forms for a range of club, team, and individual awards which recognise achievements from the season. A judging panel of Union staff, University staff and Hallam students have decided on the shortlisted nominees. Winners for each award will be announced on the night.
