The Men’s Hockey club consists of three teams competing within the BUCS competition. All teams are entered into the BUCS cup competitions all at different levels leading up to the Championships, which the Men’s 1st XI have competed in alongside the top universities like Loughborough & Exeter.

Sheffield Hallam Men’s 1st team have a successful history, winning the BUSA Shield in ‘07/’08 where they were unbeaten all season. They now play in the BUCS Premier League, the top level for University Hockey.

The Men’s 2nd team narrowly missed out on promotion for the last 2 seasons so have high hopes of achieving this in the forthcoming season.

The Men’s 3rd team will also be gunning for promotion in the ‘11/’12 season.

The hockey club is now a registered NPC (National Performance Centre) but we also have a strong link with Sheffield Hallam Hockey Club, who compete at a National League standard, but also have a range of teams from Mens 1st – 8th team. Joining this club you will be able to compete at a very high level and improve your Hockey skills but also make a lot of friends and join in with well organised social events throughout the year.

The final competition for all three teams is the ‘Varsity’ games against our rivals, Sheffield University. At this competition, all sports are battled out in front of capacity crowds to win points for your University. In the last 2 seasons, Hallam were the winners and look to retain this in the forthcoming year where we hope you can be a part of this!

Getting Started

Compulsory playing kit, which will cost approximately £60.  Optional team wear: Hoodies, Sweat Tracksuits etc.

Shin pads and mouth guards are strongly advised.

Cost

Every member of the club must purchase a Team Hallam membership for £85, which is for a full year. This is available to purchase from the reception desk at either of the two Sport Hallam sports facilities. Once paid, please remember to register via the Sports Union Home Page to make your payment valid!

Training & Fixtures

Training Monday evenings 5-8pm depending upon which squad you are in, September through till April. Contact the club Chairman for more information.

Match days Wednesdays 12am-5pm.
