On this page you will see informaiton about some potential societies at Hallam Union. They haven’t been formally ratified by Union Council yet, and they need other students (like you) to show interest in support of their application! Please contact the people listed below if you would be interest in joining their society once it is set up.
This new society aims to join together all students who have a interest in cue sports, to provide students with information on where and when to play, and to create both competitive and social events related to pool and snooker.
It will provide members with activities such as:
Student knockout competitions e.g. once a month with a cash prize.
Designated pool and snooker social evenings e.g. once a week.
Possibly discounted rates of snooker at local clubs.
A student pool and snooker league / ladder.
Opportunity to take part in snooker team leagues outside of the university.
Social events.
Possibility to compete against other universities.
If you are interested in supporting this society, and would like more information or to register your interest, then please contact Michael at b0008705@my.shu.ac.uk.
The Airsoft Society is an upcoming new society wanting to be put on but in order for it to be ratified, it needs committee members to run the society!

We hope to provide weekly tango lessons for beginners through to advanced levels in a friendly atmosphere where students can learn the most seductive of dances while meeting new friends and socialising. We also hope to provide balls/Social dances so that students can meet and practise what they have learnt.
If you like the sound of this society, and you would like to get involved, then please contact Caron at cday4@my.shu.ac.uk to show your support.
Hallam Union could soon have a your very own Quidditch club!!!
When this society is set up, they will aim to:
- Form a fully co-ed Quidditch team (playing by official IQA rules) that will practice, and play on a regular basis with the many Quidditch teams, both in the UK and overseas.
- To create an environment where both Harry Potter fans and serious athletes can play side by side together.
- To involve as many people in the game of quidditch and to encourage fun, competition and equality on and off the pitch.
If you like the idea of this society, and would like to get involved, please indicate your support by emailing James at
