Stop the Traffik is looking to build on the success of 2010/11 where we managed to appear on ITV News and win Hallam’s Outstanding Society of the Year Award and the Steel City Achievement Award.
Human trafficking is the second largest criminal enterprise in the world, with hundreds of thousands of people being trafficked into slavery and forced bondage every year. The UK is no exception; the crime itself is hidden to such an extent that it happens in every city in the UK without the majority of people, authorities or organisations knowing about it.
In order to successfully combat the crime local communities, professionals and organisations must be aware of it. As a group, we therefore aim to generate an environment where it is harder to traffic, hide and exploit people by raising awareness, engaging with the relevant agencies and campaigning.
