The Environmental society aims to educate, inform and inspire people about all aspects of the environment. We want to enjoy the urban and rural environment through guided talks and guest speakers. We volunteer for the Wildlife Trust once a month at Blacka Moor.

Operation Wallacea are coming to Sheffield Hallam University on Thursday 28th October at 1pm to give a presentation (Adsetts 6620), which will last no longer than 1 hr, about our research programmes.
We have been organising expeditions since 1995, when we conducted biological surveys in South East Sulawesi, Indonesia. We now run in 10 different countries: Indonesia, Honduras, South Africa, Mozambique, Egypt, Peru, Cuba, Madagascar and new for 2011 Guyana and Mexico!
We have over 150 academics involved in our research at the different survey sites, and we are recruiting university students to assist with the data collection. You can come for the experience and strengthen your CV or you can complete your final year dissertation choosing from over 200 topics.
Expeditions run from June – September and you can come for 2,4,6 or 8 weeks.
So, if you are interested in sustainable conservation, birds, bats, mammals large and small, inverts, botany, herpetofauna, discovering new species (30 so far!), rediscovering species thought to have become ‘extinct’, learning about survey techniques, working with some of the best academics that the UK, Ireland, US and Canada have to offer, then please do come along.
