Societies

In the SHU English Society, we aim to provide a friendly and welcoming environment to enjoy English, in all its forms, for anyone interested. You do not have to be an English student to join – you just need to enjoy any part of English, from reading and discussing the book that your favourite movie is based on to watching and performing drama.

We will arrange socials, trips to theatres and other events, nights out, and even study sessions if you find part of your course challenging – many of your fellow students will be in the society with you.

Come along and expand your mind with a group of like-minded students with a passion for English.
