Amnesty

As part of Amnesty.org.uk – our purpose:
‘We are ordinary people from around the world standing up for humanity and human rights. Our purpose is to protect individuals wherever justice, fairness, freedom and truth are denied.’

The Amnesty International Society is part of a worldwide movement of people who campaign for internationally recognised Human Rights. Our members are involved in national, global, and local Amnesty campaigns. At meetings we hold talks, take part in letter-writing campaigns on individual cases of human rights abuse and plan campaigns. In the past year we have planned and taken part in numerous campaigns, including actions advocating human rights in Burma and the Niger Delta, debates with other societies, sleep outs for destitute asylum seekers and fund-raising events. Our members have also been to the student and national Amnesty UK conferences, taking part in decisions that affect the movement across the country. If you think you’d like to get involved with this kind of work then get in touch.
