About SHU Radio

SHU Radio was reformed in September 2010, after a number of unsuccessful attempts in recent years to establish a radio station. Each week, we aim to produce a series of high quality student orientated podcasts, which are published online.

Our output is aimed at student’s currently studying at Sheffield Hallam, in short it is a radio station produced by Hallam students for Hallam students.

SHU Radio is currently negotiating a live frequency to broadcast on and we are hoping to broadcast live from hallam studios to the web in the new year.

Listen Live to SHU radio through Burngreave community radio station every Wednesday 12-2pm

Getting Involved with SHU Radio

SHU Radio is a student run radio station. So we need YOU to get involved. At SHU Radio we learn by doing, so what you put in you get out. It’s a place where you can share what’s best about you and where the people are friendly and the atmosphere always exciting. It’s great, if you are doing a media or journalism related course SHU-Radio can even give you relevant skills and experience for your degree.

Students are encouraged to produce their own content. No previous experience is necessary, though volunteers must be reliable and willing to make a regular commitment.

If you want to get involved, you can contact Rach Arthur on a8016584@my.shu.ac.uk to find out more information or Helen Bodsworth your Democracy and Communications Officer on uusdemocracy@shu.ac.uk
