SHU Media

Media at Hallam Union encompasses these two areas:

• SHU Life, our monthly magazine, which allows you to write articles that are important to students.

• SHU Sound, which gives you the opportunity to gain a wealth of experience from broadcasting to editing.

Why get involved in SHU Media?

SHU Media is open to any student who wants to get involved in a creative, collaborative activity. You will be involved in every aspect of creating a magazine, radio show or video from initial concept creation right through to distribution.

If you are on a marketing or media related course then SHU Media will equip you with skills that will help towards your degree, CV and portfolio. But it is also a great way to meet people and have fun!

How do I get involved?

Getting involved in SHU Media couldn’t be more simple. Just email Howard Duffy, your Democracy and Communications Officer on uusmedia@shu.ac.uk or pop into The HUBS and state which area of SHU Media you would like to get involved in.

Extra media related opportunities

There are other ways you can get involved with media related activities at Hallam Union. Have a look at the volunteering sections of this booklet. Also, if you have a particular interest in one of our other activities like sports or societies there might be ways where you can help us publicise those areas through different media for example creating a newsletter, magazine, press releases or promotional videos for these areas.

Exciting start to SHU Media…

Hey everyone,

I’m Howard and I’m the Democracy and Communications Officer here at Hallam Union. I oversee SHU Media, however it is completely student-led and run! Here, I’ll keep you up to date with everything SHU Media related and you can get in touch with me by emailing uusmedia@shu.ac.uk

So far I’ve had a meeting with the Editors of SHUlife (our student magazine) and SHUsound (our student radio station) which was really focused on covering stories which are of interest to students. So the ideas are rolling in and it looks like its going to be an exciting year for SHU Media!

So if your interested in Media then please get in contact as SHU Media is always looking to expand and get more students involved.
