Torch relay

London 2012 Torch Relay

Prior to the London 2012 Olympic Games, the Olympic Torch will spend 70 days touring the United Kingdom. The Torch will arrive in Sheffield for an evening celebration, on Monday, June 25th. Sheffield will host one of the 66 evening celebrations on the Olympic Flame’s journey across the UK. This is one of only five celebrations in Yorkshire and the Humber and will be free for spectators to watch.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games is the largest sporting event in the world, involving 10,500 Olympic athletes and 4,200 Paralympic athletes from over 200 countries. What a fantastic reason to get involved in sport in 2012! Whether it’s linking in to a national London 2012 project or volunteering at a local level there is something for everyone who loves sport at Hallam Union!

The London 2012 Cultural Olympiad is the largest cultural celebration in the history of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Movements. The Cultural Olympiad is a chance for everyone to use their creativity and get involved in London 2012 through arts and culture. Cultural Olympiad programmes have been running since 2008 and will end with the London 2012 Festival.
