Torch Relay Celebration

Hallam Union worked with local art organisation Art in the Park and Sheffield City Council to organise activities for the local community to celebrate the Olympic Flame coming to the City on Monday 25th June 2012.

The celebration event took place on Devonshire Green and the community was invited to come along and take part in lots of free craft activities and watch performances from Hallam students and local community groups. The event was supported by Hallam Union volunteers.

Games Club

The Games Club is one of the outstanding projects granted the London 2012 Inspire mark, the badge of the London 2012 Inspire programme, which recognises innovative projects inspired by the 2012 Games.

During the project Hallam Union volunteers coached primary school children in fun and engaging sports activities based on the London 2012 Games. As part of a team they planned, developed and delivered weekly sessions to children in a school followed by a Mini 2012 Games event.

Identity Exhibition

Platform Festival was organised by Hallam Union and Art in the Park, regional Coordinators of the Cultural Olympiad project Somewhereto_. As part of the festival the Identity Exhibition was organised to take place Creative Arts Development Space in Sheffield (CADS). CADS was kindly offered to the students to take over for a 4 day period thanks to their involvement in Somewhereto_.

Students were invited to submit work to the exhibition based on the theme of Identity. Each artist responded to this theme in their own way. The exhibition was coordinated by students who also ran the front of house and the preview event.
