The South Yorkshire Police are urging students to take part in a survey about policing priorities in the face of budget cuts.
“Students at your University contribute significantly to the population of Sheffield for the majority of the year, their views are much valued on the future priorities of policing in South Yorkshire.” Jamie Smith, Research Officer, South Yorkshire Police Authority.

Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, caused a stir with students in his Sheffield Hallam constituency last Friday by refusing to comment on whether he would keep to his pledge to vote against any increase in fees. One of the outcomes of the coalition agreement between the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats will see Liberal Democrat MPs abstaining from voting on the Browne Review if it is to propose a rise in fees. This means that nearly all of the 57 Lib Dem MPs will break their pledge to vote against a rise in fees

If you missed the finale to the Varsity competition held at Hillsborough Stadium on Wednesday 21st April, you missed a nail-biting fight to the last minute. Hallam and Sheffield University were tied up until the final so it all rested on the men’s first team football match.

Last week saw Sheffield Hallam students voting for their new representatives in Hallam Union Elections 2010. A staggering total of 3,333 students cast their vote in what was a hotly contested fortnight of elections campaigning. The successful candidates will now be Trustees for Hallam Union and ensure the fair representation of Sheffield Hallam students. Read more.

After a nail biting draw at the ski village on Friday, Hallam took the trophy for Winter Varsity 2010 with a 7-4 win against Shef Uni in Saturday’s ice hockey match! Click here for a full account of the weekends actions.
