Hallam Union – Student Voice Assistant

Fixed Term – 12 month graduate post

Student Voice Team – Member Services Department

Scale 3, Points 14-15 (£15,725 – £16,054)

Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union is looking for a positive, enthusiastic and organised graduate to join the Student Voice Team as an Assistant.

Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union aims to provide excellent services and facilities for its diverse membership of over 35 000 students.

You will be required to support and deliver projects, working as part of a team and using your own initiative. You will work with the Student Voice Manager, other staff and elected Officers to support the delivery of key Union events and activities including fairs, conferences and student elections.

You will work with the Student Representation Coordinator in the delivery of a high quality student representative programme in accordance with Hallam Union’s core mission, vision and values including induction, training and development.

You will work with the Student Voice Manager and the Officer team to deliver the student Elections which will include administration, training and student liaison.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication and organisational skills and be adept at developing strong working relationships with a wide range of people.

As a member of Hallam Union’s staff team you will also work in cross departmental teams to further the work of Hallam Union and contribute positively to the achievement of Hallam Unions overall mission, vision, values and objectives.

Educated to degree level you should have an understanding of issues facing students, Students’ Unions and Higher Education. You should be able to adapt and work positively in a changing environment.

Hallam Union – Volunteer Support Worker (Volunteer Placements)

Fixed Term – 12 month

Activities & Community – Member Services Department

Scale 4, Points 18-19 (£17,161 – £17,802)

Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union is looking for a positive, enthusiastic and organised individual to join the Activities and Community team as a Volunteer Support Worker with responsibility for the Volunteer Placements programme.

Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union aims to provide excellent services and facilities for its diverse membership of over 37 000 students.  As part of the Member Services Department at Sheffield Hallam Students’ Union, the Activities and Community section provides a range of activities to support the student experience at Hallam.

As a Volunteer Support Worker you will be responsible for providing the day to day support for the student volunteer placements section of the Volunteering programme.  You will assist the Volunteer Support Coordinator on:

  • The identification and support of student volunteer placements with external organisations
  • All related administration and monitoring of student volunteer placements with external organisations
  • The development of partnerships with University departments and external organisations to support the development and delivery of a collaborative approach to volunteering initiatives
  • Delivering a high quality service to students and organisations
  • Collating feedback and monitoring information in line with agreed strategies, policies and procedures
  • The effective promotion of the activities, opportunities and services of the Activities and Community section

As a member of Hallam Union’s Member Services team you will also work in cross departmental teams to assist in the implementation of key strategic initiatives for Hallam Union.  You will assist the Volunteer Support Coordinator in the development of operational plans for the area and monitor performance against agreed targets and KPI’s.

Educated to degree level you should have an understanding of the principles of good practice in volunteer management, experience of working within a volunteer project setting and have the ability to adapt and work positively in a changing environment.
