On this page you will find all the forms that you need to complete your award. For some extra opportunities to include in your award, why not click here to see the training sessions on offer. Any training you do as a volunteer can also count towards your award.
You should complete an entry on the Log Sheets for every activity that you do for your voluntary role. This includes things like regular meetings, one off events and even phone calls or emails. In each entry you should include details of what your involvement was (e.g. contributions in meetings, responsibilities at events, purpose of phone call), what skills you used in that activity, and a brief evaluation of how it went and of your role in that activity.

From time to time something will happen that you need to keep a record of – for example you will go to a ‘big’ meeting or something will go really well or maybe even disastrously wrong! You need to keep a record of this. The Key Activity Record allows you to reflect on your experiences and enables you to see how you are developing through your activities, what you are learning and even what you might do differently next time. You must submit at least one of these each semester.

The purpose of the Hallam Award is to help you to develop transferable skills that you can use throughout your University career and beyond. This Final Report is your opportunity to reflect on your role (or roles) for this year, the responsibilities that you have had, your achievements within these activities and the skills that you have used and developed. You should use the three skill areas you picked at the start (listed on your application form) but you can change these skill areas if you feel you have developed other skills than originally stated.

Click here to view the criteria that will be used to mark your award. The level of award you receive is determined by the mark you are given, and you can see how we work this out in the criteria document.
It might help you to see some examples that meet each level of criteria. Click here to read an explanation of the criteria with these examples.
You can bring paper copies into the Activities Pod in the Hubs. We will then give you a receipt for them. If you have difficulty submitting hard copies before the deadline, please contact us in advance.
Each year we have over a hundred submissions to mark, and each one is marked twice. This is obviously a big task, and to help us mark your work efficiently, please read our submission policy.
As well as all these online resources, we have also arranged regular drop-in sessions and workshops, to help you make the most of your Hallam Award. To see a list of all the available sessions, visit our drop-in and workshops page.
