Hallam Award

Presentation Night

On Friday the 30th September Hallam Students’ Union hosted the second  Hallam Award evening to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the Hallam Award winners and formally present them with their certificates.

The Hallam Award was developed with support from Sheffield Hallam University to recognise the personal progression and skills development of students who had volunteered their time to take part in Union activities.

Any Sheffield Hallam University student who is involved in Students’ Union activities such as community volunteering, stage services, SHU- Media, campaigns and sports society and entertainments committees is eligible to apply for the Hallam Award.

Students can achieve the award at four levels; Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Platinum Awards were given to those students who demonstrated the highest level of involvement in their chosen activities, and the greatest level of personal progression and skills development. In total 104 students achieved the Hallam award.

Rachel Arthur, Hallam Union Media Representative for the 2011/12 academic year spoke at the evening about her experience of the Hallam Award and how valuable she felt it was for her skills development.  Over 150 people attended the evening including Enterprise Rent-a-Car, a reputable graduate employer.

Jake Kitchiner, Hallam Union President commented “I was extremely proud to present the Hallam Award this year. It is a great way to recognise the achievements of students and the positive contribution they have made to the Union. The award also helps students identify how they have developed their skills, and prepares them for whatever the future may bring”.
