28th SeptemberTchoukball is a genuine team sport but one which is also totally unique. It’s a non-contact sport suitable for both men and women and combines the pace and excitement of handball and velleyball. Easy to pick up, beginners will never have played anything like it, or experiences the kinds of demands it makes upon players. It’s all about real teamwork, good observation, constant attention, anticipation and intelligence- but most of all it’s fun.
29th SeptemberWednesdays at Uni are synonymous with sport and during Freshers it’s no different. So to get things running (no-pun intended) we’ve got a full-on sports day planned.
Hosted at Endcliffe Park (on Ecclesall Road in the heart of Hallam student-ville) on Wednesday afternoon in the second week of freshers, our sports day will be a fun-filled fiesta of all things sporty, with competitions sessions for different sports from our Hallam Teams, sack races and loads more old-school action.
It’s a great way to get involved with sport while at Uni, see the huge range of activities on offer at Hallam and basically have a laugh. All you need to do is turn up wearing something suitable to sweat in, and be ready to get active- we might even lay on some orange squash if you are lucky.
1st OctoberOf course we’ve all seen the film, but why not join the ranks of the purple cobras yourself? Dodgeball is a fast paced sport which is fun for everyone to get involved with, regardless of gender or ability. Whether you have played before or fancy trying something new, the dodgeball club is an excellent place to get involved with student sport at uni while enjoying the benefits of being part of a team.
2nd OctoberWhy not finish off your freshers week with a run, jog or event just a walk around one of Sheffield’s loveliest green spaces?
The Sheffield Hallam Park Run in Endcliffe park is a fun and FREE event for runners of all abilities, whether you want to make a serious pace, or simply want to sweat off a bit of excess of all your other freshers fun!
To participate go to www.parkrun.org.uk/sheffield-hallam. You simply need to register by 6pm on Friday 1st October. You will receive a unique barcode which you then need to bring with you to the run, ready to start by 9am.
