There are loads of different positions within Hallam Union that require you to be elected into post.
Each position has different levels of commitment, roles and responsibilities but all will look great on your CV and will teach you valuable transferable skills such as meeting and chairing skills, strategic awareness, fairness and increased confidence.
These roles are part-time and are carried out voluntarily alongside your studies at Hallam Union.
The Assembly meetings are a chance for any student to turn up and raise an issue that they would like to discuss; this can be any part of University life. For more info on the student assembly click here.
Student Trustees are responsible for the high level strategic decisions affecting financial, strategic, legal and reputational decisions of the Union. There are full members of the Board of TrusteesĀ – for more information click here.
NUS Delegates attend NUS Conference. NUS Conference is the sovereign body of NUS, it is where all major policy decisions are taken. These decisions are around student representation, issues such as student finance, student housing, and student health/well being are debated at conference.
Union Council is the highest decision making body within the representative structures of Hallam Union, it is responsible for policy making, campaigning, holding elected officers to account and ensuring the successful running of elections.
You can run to the chair these meetings, where you will be responsible for making sure everyone gets their say, and agenda items are covered.
Our Officer committee work full time for a year talking to students to find out what you want from your Union and feeding this information back into the Union to inform future decisions. Any Hallam student can nominate themselves to be an Officer, with elections for the new Officer team being held each year around March. The Officer roles are full time paid positions which you can either undertake as a year out of study or straight after graduation.
