About Hunters Bar

Hunters Bar is a vibrant area of Sheffield situated around Hunter’s Bar roundabout at the end of Ecclesall Road.

There are loads of great shops, cafes and restaurants and of course the beautiful Endcliffe park.

Community Audit Report for Hunters Bar

In spring 2011 Hallam Union conducted a Community Audit to find out the opinions of both students and longer term residents about the area they live in with a view to the results of the audit forming the basis for projects, events and campaigns for the following year and beyond. Here are the main findings of the report for Hunters Bar:

Residents’ thoughts about the area

  • 88% of residents surveyed believe there is a good sense of community spirit
  • 79% of residents surveyed believe there is a diverse mix of people
  • 80% of residents surveyed believe the area is a clean and tidy place to live
  • 91% of residents surveyed believe the area is a safe place to live
  • 92% of residents surveyed believe the area has good community services

Actions

As a  result of the report, on Saturday 28th April 2012, Katie and Dougie organised a street clean-up in conjunction with members of the Botanical Gate Community Association. Although 80% of people believe the area is clean and tidy, certain streets were seen to be worse than others. A group of volunteers worked hard to collect litter on Ecclesall Road and surounding roads to assist in keeping the area clean and tidy.
