So unless you’ve been living on a desert island recently you won’t have been able to help noticing that there’s a general election just around the corner. The Party leaders seem to be constantly on the telly and each day the papers tell us who’s beating who in the polls.
BUT DO YOU KNOW ENOUGH TO MAKE AN INFORMED DECISION?
If not, don’t fear! Because that’s where your Union can help! Every day between now and the general election I will be blogging a selection of things which can help you find out more about the Parties and candidates as well as how and where to vote.
Who will you vote for?
Today’s bit of General Election goodness will help you find out which party most reflects your points of view…
votematch is a questionnaire designed to help you determine your voting preference.
We asked the Parliamentary candidates for Sheffield Central what they would do for students and put their answers together in this slightly amateur but hopefully informative video!
Looking for something to fill your nice lazy weekend? Or maybe you’re slaving away over your dissertation and fancy a break? Well consider it done…
Today’s lovely titbits of info to help you decide who to vote for on May 16th are the Party manifestos.
The manifestos lay out to the public what each party would do if elected and what policies they would seek to implement so can really help you make an informed decision.

Well it’s only 13 days now until you get to have your say but do you know enough to make an informed decision? Or do you feel a bit more like the people in this video…
If you still feel like it’s all that little bit too confusing then try looking here. Yahoo.com have kindly but together an easy guide to elections terminology so that you can make sure you know what’s going on over the next two weeks.
Yesterday I promised to blog different bits of useful information about the General Election every day between now and May 6th.
It’s now only 14 days to go and to help you find out a bit more about the three main Parties we’re showing The Leaders’ Debate tonight at the HUBS in Bar Phoenix, so come down and find out a bit more about the main contenders!
So let’s kick off with DAY 15’s offering…
Last week I (along with other delegates from Hallam) attended the annual conference of the National Union of Students. Before the conference, The three main Party leaders where asked to film a short statement on what they would do FOR STUDENTS if elected. Here’s what they had to say for themselves…
More to come tomorrow!
(But in the meantime, help us put pressure on your local candidates by going to www.voteforstudents.com and pledge to use your vote on May 6th)
