PGCE Funding

The TDA have now announced the new rates for teaching training bursaries for the academic year 2012/13.

The funding available is dependent on the subject you will be studying to teach plus the undergraduate qualification you have received ( in exceptional circumstances trainees can get higher funding then the qualification for example if they have gained exceptional subject knowledge from another career path)

Details of the bursary system can be found at the TDA website Here

Appeals

If you are unhappy with an assessment decision you can submit an appeal on form AA1 but you must have grounds in order for the University to consider your appeal, it is not enough just to simply disagree with a mark, the grounds are as follows:

Extenuating Circumstances – i.e. something happened at the time of a piece of work or exam – such as illness – that meant that you did not perform to the best of your ability or did not attend an exam or submit a piece of work, and either you did not submit form EC1 at the time or you did submit the form but the circumstances have not been taken into account.

If you have not previously submitted form EC1 you should complete this now in addition to the AA1 appeal form and you must state on the EC1 form why you were unable to submit it at the time of assessment.

Proceedural or administrative error - You can also appeal if there has been an error or irregularity in the assessment process. You can check the details of the assessment process with your module leader. You can also appeal if the decision was not in accordance with approved regulations. The regulations are available on SHUspace.

For more information see our leaflet and for further information and the relevant forms go to SHUspace – Support and Information – Rules and Regulations.
